Deadline for early voting is April 30

Those wanting to vote early in the City of Lewisburg election have less than a week to cast their ballot.
Early voting closes on April 30, Marshall County Administrator of Elections Tristan Arnold said.
The ballot is light. The Ward 5 city councilman seat is the only contested race. There is, however, another issue which might generate some interest -- a referendum to allow wine to be sold in grocery stores.
To date, nothing on the ballot has created a rush to the polls. Early voting began on April 15. But Arnold, said only 100 voters, including absentee, military and nursing home voters, have cast their vote as of Thursday afternoon. But this is exactly what Arnold expected. Compared to the 2011, the number of early voters is about the same.
The 2011 election reached a total of 232 voters in the entire election. Arnold is being optimistic and hopes at least 250 people cast their vote this year.
On the ballot is the election of either David Orr or Nicholas Tipper for Ward 5 councilman.
Voters who live in Wards 1 and 5 may vote for the city councilman and referendum. Voters who live in Wards 2, 3, and 4 may vote only for or against the referendum.
The Marshall County Election office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Saturday, the 25th.
