Marshall County High School got down to business after senior night festivities on Thursday at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg that honored Tigerettes' seniors Mecia Reed, Ashton Watkins, Jacey Perryman, Grace Medley and McKenzie Anderson for their dedication to the program.

"It was very emotional," said Reed. "I want to thank every single one of them because they keep me up."

Finally finished

The Tigerettes outlasted Spring Hill 11-9 in game one as they finished up some leftover work in a contest that was tied at 9-9 in the ninth inning on March 17 before being called because of darkness at Spring Hill.

There was no scoring in the ninth inning and the tiebreaker went into effect in the tenth with Anderson taking second base as the last player called out the previous inning.

Spring Hill pitcher Haley Perryman struck out the first Tigerettes' batter in the tenth inning before Leah Hollingsworth hit a hot shot to third base that was mishandled, allowing Anderson to come around to score the go-ahead run.

Taylor Walls proceeded to drill a single to right field that scored Hollingsworth, making it an 11-9 contest.

Senior hurler Jacey Perryman (16) picked up both wins in the circle for the Tigerettes on Thursday versus Spring Hill.

Jacey Perryman shut the door on the Lady Raiders in the bottom of the tenth to seal Marshall County's win.

Second game

In game 2, the Tigerettes jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on the back of a three-run dinger by Sydne Solomon in the bottom of the second inning.

Anderson had the other RBI in the inning for Marshall County, who slipped up a little in the field in the top of the third, allowing Spring Hill to score an unearned run off Perryman, making it 4-1.

The Perrymans combined for three and half consecutive shutout innings in the circle before Elissa Seacrest walloped a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning for Spring Hill, slicing Marshall County's lead to a single run at 4-3.

The Tigerettes did not score in the bottom of the sixth, and in the home half of the frame, Jacey Perryman set down the Lady Raiders 1-2-3 on consecutive ground ball outs to finish off the senior night sweep.

Teammates for years

Senior Ashton Watkins (15) guns down a Spring Hill runner in the first game versus the Lady Raiders.

"It was very emotional tonight, we have been playing together since T-Ball," said Watkins. "I know it hit home for a lot of our fans and the rest of our players just have to come out and play the rest of the year and the years to come."

Jacey Perryman gave up two earned runs on six hits, while striking out three and walking zero Spring Hill batters in the contest.

"Other than that bomb I gave up, I thought we did pretty good," said Jacey Perryman. "I thought our defense played really well too."

Another win

MCHS came back with an 11-3 win over intra-county rival Cornersville on Friday to improve to 15-8 overall and 8-2 in District 12-AA play.

The Tigerettes play Giles County at Reese Hambrick Field on Wednesday in a make-up game at 5 p.m. and the District 12-AA Tournament begins on Friday.

"We want to win district, it is up to our seniors," said Watkins. Reed added, "We want to not only win district, we want to go further."
