That was the aggregate score the Forrest Lady Rockets tallied in a three-game sweep of the District 9-A Tournament in Unionville.

"I am elated for them," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "This has been one of the funnest groups I have ever had the opportunity to work with."

Forrest finished off the dominating performance Wednesday night, blasting the host Viqueens 18-3 in four innings to claim the title.

The Viqueens upset Moore County 4-2 in the losers' bracket final and will advance to the Region 5-A Tournament for the first time in school history.

Home clash

Community travels to East Robertson, while the Lady Rockets will entertain Houston County on Monday night.

"I know they have some goals they still want to accomplish," said Cheatham. "I know they are tired of living vicariously through other teams, and I want them to have the experience that they set for their goal for this year."

It was big night all the way around for the Lady Rockets, who banged out 15 hits in three at bats.

Katie Warrick slams her 50th career home run in the second inning.

Warrick's 50th

The highlight of the evening came in the second inning when UT Martin signee Katie Warrick belted a grand slam home run, marking her 50th career home run at Forrest.

"We got the sweep and I am so proud of my team," said Warrick.

The Chapel Hill fans salute Warrick's 50th career home run.

"When I walked into coach (Wes) Hobbs class as a freshman, I bragged about my home runs and he challenged me to hit 50 in my career, so that's why I did and I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it."

Community actually held a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Karla Pena, but the lead was short-lived when Warrick drove home a run on a long sac fly before Samantha King slammed a dinger to give the Lady Rockets the lead for good in the bottom of the first.

Huge inning

In a remarkable offensive display, Forrest sent 19 batters to the plate in the bottom of the second inning, scoring 15 runs on 12 hits.

Kerigan Joslyn hit a two-run homer for the Viqueens in the top of the third to make it 17-3, but a no-out, bases-loaded single by Briar Mays in the home half of the inning ended the game and the tournament.

Forrest has played Houston County six times in the Region 5-A Tournament and is 5-1 in the series.

All of the games have been at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill with the only loss coming by a 1-0 score in 2011 that ended the Lady Rockets' season.

Must-win game

Monday's game is a do or die contest with the loser going home and the winner advancing to the region title contest, while also garnering a spot in the state sectional round.

"It's do-or-die, you have got to win or stay home," said Cheatham. "Sometimes you come in with a bundle of nerves, but we have the experience behind us, so I am just looking forward to Monday and see what we can do."
