McCoy takes 4th in national meet

Forrest eighth-grader Wesley McCoy recently represented the Marshall County Wrestling Club (MCWC) and Team Tennessee at the Lee Pamulak Middle School National Duals in Des Moines, Iowa.

McCoy took home a fourth-place trophy at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) event, posting a 5-3 record in the 160-pound weight class, wrestling opponents from Montana, Illinois, Wyoming, Nebraska and Alabama.

"This was a great accomplishment, we're very proud of Wes," said MCWC President Austin Montgomery.

There were 21 teams competing in the event, and Team Tennessee finished in second place, its best finish ever.

McCoy collected his third All-America status and qualified for the National Duals.

The MCWC had another successful season, as McCoy became the clubs' second state champion while three other MCWC grapplers achieved All- America status and competing in multiple nation events.
