Marlene "Marley" Blalock
Mrs. Marlene "Marley" Blalock, age 62, died Sunday evening, May 31, 2015, at her home in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Blalock was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Roy Howard and Annie Ruth "Ann" Davis McElhaney. She was a graduate of Forrest High School Class of 1970. Mrs. Blalock retired after 33 years with the Marshall County School System as the attendance supervisor at Forrest School and later at Chapel Hill Elementary. She was a very active member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where she was a choir member and served on many committees. Mrs. Blalock was a member and past officer of the United Methodist Women and also served as Secretary of Swanson Cemetery Corporation. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Blalock, who died in 1990.
Mrs. Blalock is survived by her husband, Danny Blalock, Chapel Hill; son, Mark Blalock, Nashville,; brother, Mike McElhaney, Chapel Hill; and step-father, Charles Van Hooser, Lewisburg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.
Dean Delk, Billy Johns, Ted Williams, Gary Daughrity, Nicky Thomas, Larry Symons, Maxine Johns, Becky Delk, Kris Holton, Brenda Daughrity, Linda Whitehurst, Judy Copeland, Emily Cook and Debbie Allen will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Van Hooser, Bud Davis and faculty and staff of Chapel Hill Elementary School.
