John Thomas Perkins
Mr. John Thomas Perkins, 64, of Lewisburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, after a 10-year illness.
Mr. Perkins was a native of Maryville and the son of the late Roy T. Perkins and Daisy Dyer Perkins. In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by a sister, Suzie Perkins. He was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the VFW and American Legion in Maryville.
Mr. Perkins was an 18-year veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving two tours in Vietnam as a gunnery sergeant. He worked as a nuclear biological chemical defense specialist.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Jennette Dunn Perkins; daughter, Tiffany (USMC Capt. Harry) Boyd of Charleston, South Carolina; step son, Matt (Elizabeth) Hunnicutt of Lewisburg; brother, James Perkins of Tampa, Florida; sister, Gail Roccagli of Gainesville, Florida; sister-in-law, Carole (Tony) Mckibbon of Cornersville; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Perkins will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with military honors. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
