James A. Brothers
James A. Brothers, age 79 of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Huntsville Hospital.
James attended Moody's Chapel Baptist Church in Altoona, Alabama, for many years prior to relocating to Athens. He was a skilled carpenter, home builder and enjoyed wood crafting. In previous years, James participated in many church building mission trips. Immediately prior to retirement, he was employed with Lowe's Home Improvement Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert E. and Bertie L. Brothers; daughter, Nancy Bates-Yessick; and brother, Carl (Mickie) Brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Brothers; daughter, Susan (Gene) Bates; stepchildren, Eddie (Sherry) Brown; Paul (Christy) Brown; Teresa Bruce; David Brown; Michael (Jackie) Brown; Nancy (Eric) McMillan; brother, Donald (Jane) Brothers; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; eight step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. James was previously married to Audrey P. Brothers for 25 years.
Funeral services were conducted on at 10 a.m. July 15, 2015, from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home with burial following in Head Springs cemetery.
The family was at the funeral home for visitation on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday until the funeral hour.
