Daniel Wayne 'Dan' Spence
Daniel Wayne "Dan" Spence, age 63 of the Verona Community, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at his residence.
Dan was a native of Marshall County, Tennessee, born Dec. 3, 1951, son of B.D. and Marcella Maupin Spence. He attended Verona School and graduated from Marshall County High School in the class of 1969. He served with the Tennessee National Guard for nine years. He served as chairman of the Marshall County Commission from 1991 until 1998, and served with Farmington Rich-Creek VFD for several years. He worked for Inter-State Paving Company for 15 years and finished his career after 30 years with Thompson Machinery as a demonstrator operator. He was a member and elder of Berea Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Teresa Wright Spence of Verona; two sons, Josh (Ashton) Spence of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jonathan (Caroline) Spence of Thomasville, Georgia; daughter, Katie-Beth (Tyler) Trout of Murfreesboro, Tennessee' brother, Bill (Carol) Spence of Verona; and sister, Peggy (Ralph) Allen of Culleoka, Tennessee; and five grandchildren, Beau Spence, Tucker Spence, Henry Spence, Quinn Spence, and Elinor Spence.
Funeral services were conducted by Nathan Hagood and Tony Lancaster Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial following in Berea Cemetery at Verona.
The family was at London Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m., and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour for visitation.
