Ben Whitt Putman
Ben Whitt Putman, age 74, a resident of Lewisburg, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Putman was born on Oct. 6, 1940, was a native of Lincoln County, and was the son of the late Ben Whitt Putman, Sr. and Annie Gatlin Putman. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mickey Putman. He graduated from Lincoln County High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Middle Tennessee State University, retired after 35 years from the Internal Revenue Service, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
Mr. Putman is survived by his loving wife of 53 year, Linda Curlee Vannatta Putman of Lewisburg; two daughters, Vickie Michael, and Patricia (Kendall) Hollingsworth, both of Lewisburg; two sons, Steve (Gail) Vannatta and Rod Putman, both of Lewisburg; four grandchildren, Ileah McKee Aldous of England; Lynda McKee of Columbia, Tennessee; Connor Vannatta and Kolby Vannatta of Lewisburg; one sister, Betsy (Jerry) Towry of Fayetteville; and one brother, David Putman of Fayetteville.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 from the Chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Bro. Van Johnson and Mark Pierce officiating. Burial followed at Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg, Tennessee. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17 and 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday.
