Bulldogs break through with victory at home

The Cornersville Bulldogs (1-2) broke the ice Friday night at Frog Bottom, outlasting Grace Christian School from Franklin 30-27 to win their first game of the season.

Kolbe McMahon led the Class A Region 4 victory by running for 333 yards on 35 carries. Behind McMahon, the Bulldogs amassed 446 yards of total offense, all coming rushing.

The Lions scored the only first-quarter touchdown before the Bulldogs put up 15 points in the second quarter on a pair of McMahon touchdown runs to lead 15-7 at the half.

Cornersville quarterback Eli Woodard rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 30-27 win over Grace Christian School from Franklin.

Eli Woodward book-ended touchdown runs of 21 and 11 yards, respectively, around a pair of Grace Christian scores in the third quarter, making it a 30-19 game entering the fourth quarter.

The Lions added a touchdown in the closing seconds to set the final score.

Cornersville will be on the road this week, traveling to Moore County (1-2) for the second of four straight region games.
