Globe rezoning resolution removed from meeting agenda

Monday's public hearing before the Marshall County Board of Commissioners to discuss the possible rezoning of a parcel of land on Globe Road from A1 agricultural to M2 industrial has been cancelled, the commission announced in a news release shortly after noon on Friday.
The resolution dealing with a possible vote on the rezoning issue on the commission's agenda for Monday's regular monthly meeting scheduled to follow the hearing also was deleted. The request to have the item removed from the agenda came at the request of Billy Coble, who owns the property that was targeted for rezoning.
Coble, contacted by phone early Friday afternoon, said he'd asked for the issue to be removed from the agenda because he'd be out of town and unable to attend the meeting.
"I have a trip to Canada that I forgot was scheduled for the same time," he said.
Coble said he currently has no plans to request another rezoning in the near future.
A group of Globe Road residents against the possibility of rezoning the property were pleased with the news.
"We're cautious and relieved," said Azilee Thompson, who along with her husband, Ron, owns the property immediately south of Coble's. "We need to keep our vigilance up."
