The Marshall County Wrestling Club is kicking off its fifth season under the tutelage of coaches Austin Montgomery and Chris Posey.

The MCWC has members from Chapel Hill, Lewisburg, Cornersville and Spring Hill and holds workouts at Horton Haven Christian Camp at Chapel Hill.

"A large part our success is due to the support we get from our parents, sponsors and Horton Haven Christian Camp, without them we would not be able to reach our potential," Posey said.

The club has developed multiple state champions and nationally ranked wrestlers and competes all across the state as well as traveling outside of TN, GA, OH, AL, and Iowa.

"We are looking forward to another great season, we have a terrific group of athletes," Montgomery said.

MCWC captain Nick McClendon is all smiles as he stands on the number one podium spot at the Spring Station Invitational.

One of the outstanding wrestlers is Nick McClendon, who is currently undefeated and is considered one of the best wrestlers in the state at 160 pounds.

"Nick is the captain of the Marshall County Wrestling Club, providing daily leadership and an excellent example for the younger wrestlers in the club," Montgomery said.

At a recent event at the Spring Station Invitational, McClendon shined bright with eight take downs and four pins as he captured the first place trophy.
