Charles D. Dickens 79 of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Belding passed away Wednesday. Dec. 30, 2015 at McLaren Bay Special Care in Bay City.

Charles was born on March 18, 1936 in Belding, the son of Dale and Maude (Spencer) Dickens. He graduated from Belding High School with the Class of

1955 and later retired in 1993 after 27 years at Oldsmobile in Lansing.

He was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Greenville and had served as a volunteer firefighter for the Belding Fire Department from 1962-1998. He was currently a volunteer member at the Rosebush Fire Department.

In earlier years Charles had also served in the Michigan National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lucy, and a daughter, Caroline Borrow.

Charles is loved and survived by his sister Gloria J. Dickens of Lewisburg, Tenn., his children; Charles H. and Ninah Dickens of Lewisburg, Tenn., Drabra Miller of Belding, June and Darwin Dickson of Lewisburg, Tenn., Kirk and Carol Killian of Weidman; a stepson; Robert; and Kim Jewell of Escanaba, Cynthia Kang of California; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral and committal services were Saturday January 2, 2016 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Burial will take place privately in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.

Memorials may be given to the volunteer fire department of Rosebush, Michigan or the City of Belding. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Messages of condolence may also be given at www.jffh.com
