Mr. Sebrone Denson, age 84, of the Berlin community of Marshall County, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016. Born in Sun City, Fla., Mr. Denson was a son of the late Malachi Gibson Denson and Inez Avie White Denson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Higgins; one grandchild, Jeff Mitchell; one nephew Malachi Higgins. Mr. Sebrone was retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. Following his Air Force career he went on to become a high school educator and principal, a music pastor and then senior pastor. As we know," pastors never retire they just change ministries." He served as a chaplain in jails in Nevada and Marshall County, Tenn. He had a profound love of music which he shared with his family and was surpassed only by his love of God which he also shared with his family.
Mr. Denson is survived by his wife, Yuda Jean Denson of the Berlin community; two daughters, Elise (Archie Dwane) Denson Mathews, Sabrina Blaskey of Odessa, Texas; a son, Sebrone "Sebie" (Tracy) Denson II; five sisters, Lucille Williams of Gibsonton, Fla., Annette Carpenter of Sun City Center, Fla.; Gerri Denson, Darlene Ragan and Linda Kay Denson, all of McClenney, Fla.; a brother, Johnnie Denson of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren, Donny Mitchell, Dwane Mathews, Stephanie Goins and Sebrone "Denny" Denson III; four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 3347 Franklin Pike, Lewisburg, Tenn. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 at the Frank Ownby Cemetery in the Berlin community with Rev. Jerry Yerkes officiating. Following the graveside service there will be a potluck dinner served at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 4:30 p.m. followed by a musical jam session and celebration of Mr. Denson's life.
