Rockets take tri-match at Harpeth
The Forrest wrestling squad traveled to Harpeth Thursday night for a tri-meet with the host Indians and White House High School where the Rockets continued their stellar season with a road sweep.
Forrest opened with a 53-22 win over Harpeth, but it wasn't an easy start as Justen Uttley (132-pounds) opened the meet with a pin over Dylan Walls.
Joseph "Cheese" Williams and Bryton Spitzley won by forfeit for Forrest before Daelyn Rose won a 9-1 major decision over Clepper Watson, making it 12-10.
Wesley McCoy (160) and Tanner Kerr (170) picked up six points apiece with pins over their Indians' opponents and Billy Clanton (195) garnered six more points by default to give the Rockets a commanding 36-10 lead.
Harpeth came up with a tough 4-0 win when Devin Spence (220) beat Nikolas McGuiggan in a spirited match that cost the Rockets an extra point when McGuiggan was penalized after losing his temper after the tough loss.
Josh Hill (285) and Jeffrey Gross (106) won by forfeit for the Rockets and Harley Sisk (113) followed with a pin over Dylan Becker.
The 120-pound match featured the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked wrestlers in the state as Dylan Pendley took on Braxton Hunter.
Hunter, the number-two ranked grappler, beat Dylan Pendley 6-3 in a match that went the distance and the battle between the two schools ended when Thomas Hatcher (126) pinned Forrest's Justin Leonard.
In the second match, Forrest took on the Blue Devils from White House and the Rockets jumped on them early, taking a 16-0 lead on a pair of pins by Leonard and Williams, book ending a Peyton Sisk (132) 16-4 major decision victory over Danny Jeffrey.
White House got on the scoreboard when Landon Deming (145) pinned Spitzley, but the Rockets took control as Watson pinned Harold Cheatham and McCoy followed with a forfeit win, making it 28-6.
The Blue Devils mounted a comeback when Dylan Grissom pinned Austin Geeting and Ethan Rainey won by fall over William Eddins.
Forrest stalwart Clanton pinned Kenneth Grissom in the 195-pound bout and McGuiggan bounced back with a pin over Joshua Dailey.
Elijah Zweydorff garnered the Blue Devils' last win of the night when he pinned Hill.
Gross won by forfeit and Harley Sisk won by fall over Jagger Brantley before Pendley also bounced back with a pin over Tanner Pharris to end the Forrest road trip.
In the state rankings, Jeffery Gross (106) and Pendley (120) are both third, while Billy Clanton is ranked fourth in the 220 class, but he is down to 195 pounds.
Watson comes in as the fourth-ranked wrestler in the 152-pound weight class, Peyton Sisk (132) is fifth and Harley Sisk (113) is sixth.
