Elks Hoop Shoot still going strong; several players advance

The Lewisburg Elks Lodge #1990 held its longstanding Hoops Shoot on November 16 at Lewisburg Middle School consisting of girls and boys ages 8-to-13.

The local Elks are among many of the more than 1.6 million members with 2,250 Lodges throughout the United States that host these tournament at no cost to any of the participants.

Moving ahead

The local winners advanced to the District Tournament in Lawrenceburg will they will have a shoot off with seven other districts throughout Middle Tennessee.

The winners from the district will all be aiming for a shot at the State Shoot Off in Franklin.

The annual Hoops Shoot is a tradition that takes place in the second week of November every year and is free to all the kids in the spirit of the Elks moto that goes like this, "Elks Care and Elks Share."

Local winners are as follows:

Ages 8-to-9-(Girls) Jalia Speedy; (Boys), Jayden Randolph (first), Charlie Coble (second).

Ages 10-to-11-(Boys) Conner Jones (first), Jake Welch (second).

Ages 12-to-13-(Girls) Anna Speedy, (Boys) Carter Speedy.
