The Marshal County Wrestling Club competed in the seventh annual Music City Brawl last weekend at Independence High School as over 750 youth wrestlers from all over Tennessee, as well as many surrounding states participated in the event.

The MCWC entered 15 wrestlers in the meet and came away 35 wins, 16 coming on pins and seven on technical falls.

Nick McClendon took first place, while Landon Desselle earned second place in the Junior Division and third place in the Midget Division.

Two groups

Desselle wrestled in two different age groups and placed in both. Competitors will sometimes wrestle in two different age groups to get extra matches and more experience.

Peter Wilson finished in second place, Jamie McDaniel third, Dustin Jett fourth, Liam Bell fifth and Micah McClendon rounded out the team's success with a sixth place finish.

"I'm really proud of our club. Our coaches, volunteers, parents and athletes have worked very hard this year," MCWC coach Austin Montgomery said. "We still have several tournaments as well as region, state and national tournaments coming up. I look forward to seeing all of our wrestlers achieve success."
