Pendley advances to finals, Gross just misses

Forrest sophomore Dylan Pendley is in total control over junior Scott Weaver from Boyd Buchanan in the TSSAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament semifinals at the Williamson County Ag Center in Franklin. Pendley would go on to dominate Weaver, coming away with a 15-5 major decision win. Pendley (45-4), a fourth place finisher last season and Region 3A/AA champion this year will take on Region 1A/AA champ William Reichel in the title tilt tomorrow. Tribune photos by Anthony S. Puca

Forrest freshman Jeff Gross (left) gets ready to battle Dymond Smith from Pigeon Forge in the TSSAA 106-pound semifinals. Gross (42-4) would go on to lose a close 2-0 decision to Smith, sending the Rocket grappler to the consolation semifinals.
Forrest Freshman Wesley McCoy stayed alive, winning 7-6 in overtime over Trey Tanner from CAK in the consolation round. McCoy will take on Eagleville's Drew Gil in the next match that will decide a medalist spot.
Senior Clay Watson's Forrest wrestling career ended tonight when he lost a nail-biter 4-3 to Elijah Davis from Knoxville Fulton.
