The Marshall County Tigers continued their post-season magic Tuesday night at Spring Hill in the Region 6-AA semifinals, erasing a fourth quarter double-digit deficit to stun Cascade 65-62.

Marshall County trailed 52-38 entering the fourth quarter when they turned up the defensive pressure cooker on the Champions, forcing a myriad of turnovers and layups off the press.

A Malek Sain 3-pointer late in the contest gave the Tigers the lead and they held on with some solid free throw shooting down the stretch to claim the rubber match versus Cascade.

The win also clinched a state sectional berth for the Tigers, their first since 2010-2011 when they swept their way to a Region 6-AA Tournament title before losing to 68-67 to East Nashville in sub-state at Lewisburg.

Ahead is their thorn in the side as the Tigers take on Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Spring Hill for the Region 6-AA title.

The Lions (22-8) have beaten the Tigers (15-13) nine consecutive times, dating back to 2009, including back-to-back District 12-AA Tournament title game wins over MCHS with the latest coming on February 20 via a 62-51 victory.

CPA beat Stewart County 61-48 in Tuesday night's semifinal nightcap.

In the Region 5-A championship game at Lipscomb Thursday night, White's Creek (19-11) takes on sixth-ranked Maplewood (22-5) in an all District 10-AA title tilt.

The 5-A and 6-A finalists will meet in the sectional round on March 7.
