Community came to the Field of Dreams at Chapel Hill Wednesday night with a lifetime of goose eggs versus the Forrest Lady Rockets and after putting up a mild tussle, the Viqueens fell 7-3, extending their all-time losing streak to 0-36, dating back to 2002.

Forrest banged out 13 hits and had six extra base knocks in the game with Samantha King going 3-for-4, while Carson Warner, Lauren Gillespie and Jordan Yelensky all had two hits apiece for Forrest with Yelensky slamming a two-run homerun.

Gillespie started in the circle for the Lady Rockets and pitched three innings of one-hit ball, but suffered some control problems, waking five Community batters in her stint.

Great effort

King came on for Gillespie in the top of the fourth inning with the Lady Rockets trailing 3-2 and held the Viqueens scoreless the rest of the game, allowing just one hit over the last four innings to pick up the win.

Forrest broke through first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning on RBI singles by King and Warner.

Gillespie struggled, but hung tough as the freshman southpaw reached the third inning where Community tied the game on back-to-back bases on balls to Karla Pena and Anna Katherine Lemmons, a Forrest outfield error and an RBI base hit by Sydney Segroves.

In the home half of the frame, Forrest busted through with five runs on six hits on RBI doubles by Amanda Patterson and Gillespie, a fielder's choice RBI by Emma Stacey and Yelensky's laser shot over the left field fence that drove in the final runs in the game.

Samantha King picked up the win in the circle in relief and had three hits in the Lady Rockets' 7-3 win over Community.

King allowed one runner in the fifth and sixth innings and two in the top of the seventh before the game ended on a groundout to Yelensky at shortstop.

Forrest (8-1, 4-0) will play in the Ravenwood Raptor Classic at Crocket Park in Brentwood on Friday and Saturday.
