Junior hurler Samantha King gave her seniors a big treat Tuesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel, tossing a no-hitter on senior night in a 15-0 three inning run-rule win over Huntland.

King struck out seven out of the 12 batters she faced in the contest, walked two and the other Lady Hornet reached base on a Forrest error.

Best game

"It was good and I felt like we played the best we have played all year, just seamlessly," Forrest coach Becky Cheatham said. "I was glad to see everyone hit the ball, we have been waiting for that."

The Lady Rockets wasted no time securing the win, sending 15 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning, scoring 10 runs.

"I just saw the wind go out of their (Huntland) sails in the first inning," Cheatham said. "I'm just glad for our girls, glad for our seniors, now we just have to keep it going."

Big hitters

Carson Warner had four RBI in the Lady Rockets' 15-0 win over Huntland Tuesday night at Chapel Hill.

Carson Warner drove in four of the runs with a three-run double her first time up and in her second at bat in the inning, Warner ripped another two-bagger to finish out the scoring in the frame.

Senior Amanda Patterson also had two hits in the inning, starting with a bunt single and her two-run triple in Patterson's second at bat made it 9-0.

Huntland threatened to score in the top of the second inning when Madison Roland walked with one and Taylor Elrod reached on a Forrest outfield error.

Samantha King tossed a no-hitter versus the Lady Hornets at the Field of Dreams on senior night.

King would have none of it as she struck out Ali Peters to end the inning and the Lady Hornets would not have a chance to score again.

In the bottom of the second inning, Jasmine Runk led off and reached on a Huntland error and went all the way to third base on consecutive passed balls. Brooke Paul walked and took off for second base and the Lady Hornets took the bait, trying to throw Paul out while Runk stole home, making it 11-0.

Kelsie Darnell singled and Emma Stacey followed with an RBI infield single.

Darnell scooted home on a wild pitch and Patterson made it 14-0 with a sacrifice fly.

King doubled to the left field corner and Rickee Gayle Carter came in to run for the Forrest and scored run number 15 after two Huntland wild pitches.

King set down the Lady Hornets 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

Moore County

Forrest traveled to Moore County on Wednesday, looking to get even with the Raiderettes, who beat the Lady Rockets 1-0 last week.

After taking an early 1-0 lead at Lynchburg, Mariah Ward nailed a three-run homerun in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Raiderettes a 3-1 lead.

Jordan Yelensky drove home a run in the top of the sixth with a double, trading places with King, who knocked a two-bagger to lead off the frame.

The Lady Rockets (20-8, 9-2) tried for the comeback in the top of the seventh inning, but left two runners on base to end the game, turning over the District 9A regular season title to the Raiderettes (19-8, 10-0).

The District 9A Tournament begins next week at Eagleville.
