Dorothy Jean Allman, age 87, of Petersburg, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at NHC-Oakwood in Lewisburg, Tennessee.

She was a native of Warren County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Vernon and Minnie Irene Foster Adamson.

Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisburg and retired from the General Shoe Company. She was an active member of the Volunteers of Marshall Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Benton Allman; three brothers, Arles Edward Adamson, James Medley and Ufa "Shorty" Medley, and one sister, Georgia Williams.

Mrs. Allman is survived by two step-daughters, Ann and Nancy Hancock of Virginia; two sisters, Pauling Simpson, Tullahoma, Tennessee, Macon Grissom, Flintstone, Georgia; a brother, Jessie Ray Medley, Hernandez, Mississippi; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Visitation with the family was held on Monday, May 2, 2016 in the chapel at Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with burial following in Lone Oak Cemetery.
