Edith Odell Dunn Childress
Edith Odell Dunn Childress, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg, Tennessee. She was born on June 27, 1922 to the late Henry Luther and Margaret Wilson Routt Dunn of Lincoln County, Tennessee and was married to the late George Elmer Childress.
Mrs. Childress was also preceded in death by four brothers, Garland James, Virgil Marion, Eugene, Horace Dunn; three sisters, Katherine Jean, Nellie Marie Whitfield, Nina Ruth Quick; one daughter, Emma Jean Childress and three sons, David Arthur, John Wesley and Paul Marshall Childress.
She is survived by two sons, James Marion (Delores), George Elmer (Anna) Childress, Jr.; one daughter, Deborah Sue Maynard; two daughters-in-law, Mary Childress, Kathy Jo Martin; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Barnes Price, Juanita Dunn; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy Lee Childress.
Sixteen grandchildren, Marshall Childress, Katie Childress, Stephanie Maynard (Tyler) Tillman, Wesley (Amanda) Maynard, David Maynard, Rachel Maynard, Stephen Maynard, Andrea (Richard Warf) Childress, Stuart (Tiffany) Childress, Denise (Robert) Warf, Joel (Tabitha) Childress, Austin Childress, Todd Childress, Chad Childress, Claire Childress, Sam Childress; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation with the family was on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow in Kirkland Cemetery in Lincoln County, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be Stuart Childress, Chad Childress, Joel Childress, Austin Childress, Todd Childress, and Sam Childress. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Maynard, Wesley Maynard, David Maynard, Hudson Childress, Tyler Tillman, Richard Warf, Robert Warf, Marshall Childress, and Harrison Warf.
