While Huntland and Moore County beat each other up in the District 9-A Tournament at Eagleville, the defending champion Forrest Lady Rockets swept up the mess, outscoring their opponents 59-2 as they continued outright dominance of the tournament title, winning every one this century.
Huntland came up with an exciting 1-0, 10 inning win over Moore County in the loser's bracket final before running out of gas in the championship game.
The Lady Rockets (26-8) took a 15-0 win over the fighting Lady Hornets (6-13), who will travel to East Robertson (15-10) for the opening round of the Region 5-A Tournament on Monday, while Forrest will host Nashville Christian School (13-7) at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill.
Samantha King set down Huntland 1-2-3 in the first inning before Forrest exploded in the bottom of the inning, scoring five runs.
The Lady Rockets sent nine batters to the plate in the frame with Jordan Yelensky knocking in two runs, while King and Carson Warner drove in one each.
Huntland had no answer for King as they went down in order again in the top of the second inning and in the home half of the stanza, Forrest put the game away for good.
Seven runs came across home plate in the inning for Forrest with Piper Elmore's inside the park two-run homerun highlighting the fun.
Warner also drove home two more runs in the frame and Yelensky came up with an RBI triple.
