After losing its first game of the season in the opening game of Monday night's Babe Ruth doubleheader, the Chapel Hill Farm Center had to come back from a two-run deficit to beat Marshall Medical Center 10-8 in the nightcap.

Austin Grubbs led off the contest with a double to right field for MMC and scored one out later on a fielder's choice RBI by Caleb Crowell.

Caleb McElhaney drilled a single, went to third on a Farm Center error and scored on a balk by Chapel Hill starting pitcher Dustin Brashear.

Big inning

Chapel Hill batted around in the bottom of the first inning and scored four runs as the first four batters walked before Blaize Sweeney knocked in two runs with a double and Allante Watts also had an RBI base hit in the frame that included an unearned run.

Undaunted, MMC fought back as they sent 11 batters to the dish in the top of the second inning that produced five runs on just three hits, but they were big ones as Crowell doubled to drive in two runs and Will Vanhooser knock another run in with a single to right field.

The hot-hitting Caleb Crowell had three RBI for MMC in the contest.

A bases loaded walk to Guy Vanhooser made it a 7-4 ballgame and Colton Barber pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning for A-Plus.

Key hit

After Jarvis Lyttle tossed a scoreless top of the third inning for the Farm Center, Ethan Mealer got the comeback going for Chapel Hill as he tripled to lead off the bottom of the stanza.

Sweeney reached on an error that scored Mealer and pool player Walker Whaley came in to run for Sweeney.

Walker scooted to second on a wild pitch, Luke Terry walked and Allante Watts followed with an RBI single, tying the game at 7-7.

After a strikeout, Smith gave the Farm Center the lead with a fielder's choice RBI before Pendley tripled to drive in Watts and Pendley scored the 10th run when he came home on an MMC error.

McElhaney walked to lead off the top of the fourth before Lyttle struck out the next three batters in order to end the game on the two-hour time limit.
