The South Central Tennessee Development District (SCTDD), serving 13 Tennessee counties in its mission to advocate and promote economic and community development within the region held its annual four-man scramble golf tournament at Henry Horton State Park on Thursday.

The C&S Plastics team of Lewisburg golfers Guy Chambers, Joe Liggett, Terry Wallace and Buddy Wiles scorched the 6,325-yard Buford Ellington tract, shooting a 17-under par round of 55 that tied them with last year's winning team of Danny Davis, Jay Blackwell, Tony Clanton and Sterling Smith.

The formidable Lewisburg squad took the title on a match of cards, while the Perry County Nursing home team consisting of Brent Hinson, Peyton Hinson, Don Bates and Terry Richardson finished in third place with 14-under par round of 57.

In first flight action, three teams came to the clubhouse with identical 7-under par rounds of 65 with the Heathcoat and Davis squad of Alton Heathcoat, Terry Harrison, Bobby Phillips and Mike Locke winning the first place spot on a match of cards.

The Pool Siders team of Michael Fann, Chester Darden, Andy Lacewell and Jim Thomas finished second and the First Bank squad of Bruce Cotton, Terry Phillips, Al Parker and Don Maddill came in third.

Chapel Hill's TJ Tipps won closest to the pin on the 178-yard par three 16th hole.

Madison Smith won the women's long drive on the 330-yard par four seventh hole.

Lewisburg's Robbie Giles won straightest drive on the 495-yard par five third hole, bouncing it off the trees where the golf ball careened nearest to the line in the middle of the fairway.
