The Elks had one last chance to put a kink in the Farm Center of Chapel Hill's run to capture back-to-back Marshall County Babe Ruth League titles Tuesday night, but there was no slowing the train down as the defending champs routed the perennial power 19-3 in four innings.

The Farm Center (7-1) needs one win to clinch the title Monday in its doubleheader versus second place Nichirin, which stands at 5-3 on the season.

Two wins would give Nichirin the crown with head-to-head match-ups as the tiebreaker.

Jarvis Lyttle had two hits and three RBI for the Farm Center.

Hitting spree

The Farm Center banged out 14 hits versus the Elks with Jackson Coward getting three base hits, while Jaylen Smith, Dustin Brashear, Ethan Mealer and Jarvis Lyttle all had two hits apiece.

Walker Whaley had the lone hit for the Elks and that came with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, spoiling the combined no-hit bid by three Farm Center hurlers.

Preston Shelton started on the mound for the Elks, who lost four straight games to end the regular season.

Mealer picked up the win on the mound, tossing the two innings of one run (unearned) ball while striking out four and walking two Elks' batters.

Blaize Sweeney gave up one hit, two runs (one earned), struck out one and walked one in 2.1 innings of work.

Lyttle walked one and struck out one, facing two batters in the third inning.

Wild inning

After two scoreless innings, the Farm Center went on a mission of destruction as they sent 18 batters to the plate and scored 15 runs in the top of the third inning.

Brashear had two doubles and 3RBI in the inning, Coward also had two hits and Smith came up with the first of his two inside the park homeruns in the contest.
