Youth Trap Team competes in region
The Marshall County Youth Trap Team (MCYTT) travelled to Nashville recently to take part in the 2016 Regional Competition at the Nashville Gun Club and the squad performed admirably.
The MCYTT competed in all three disciplines that include skeet, trap and sporting clays.
In the sporting clays, the junior varsity squad placed third with a score of 230, led by Dowlen Hosford with Aaron Luttrell and Austin Proctor.
Southern Shooting Sports won the division with a score of 254 and Clarksville Christian School was second at 242.
In trap, the MCYTT turned in a huge showing as the rookie team finished second with a score of 275, led by Marty Herndon (77), Lane Stacey (62), Nathan Batte (51), Joseph Johns (47) and Katie King (38).
The Intermediate team won its division as Jeffery Haynes (94), John Bennett (93), Seth Foutch (80), Jackson Williams (75) and Isaiah Osborne (66) combined for a winning score of 408.
Zion Christian School (359) finished in second place and the GMS Generals (358) took third.
The junior varsity squad took home the title with the same group of shooters, posting a winning score of 435 with Page Red (429) second and Columbia Academy (414) third.
Several team members won individual awards in trap for High Overall Average that included Marty Herndon (94) second runner-up rookie male, Jeffry Haynes (94) first runner-up Intermediate Entry Level (IE) male, John Bennett (93) second runner-up IE male, Dowlen Hosford (95) first runner-up JV male, Katie King (38) first runner-up rookie ladies and Lauren Fox first runner-up varsity ladies.
In skeet we the IA team took fourth place (198) led by Gains Scarfone with a 73, followed by Houston Williams (64) and Tanner Reese (61).
Aaron Luttrell won second runner-up HOA JV male with a score of 94.
The MCYTT is gearing up for the State shoot which will be held at the Nashville Gun Club in a few weeks.
