LMS cross country team competes in first meet

Lewisburg Middle School is making history. On August 8th, the Marshall County Board of Education approved LMS principal's Randy Hubbell's proposal for a cross country team at LMS. Practice started a week later with over thirty participants.

After just two weeks practice, LMS competed in their first meet on Saturday, September 3rd. Riverdale High School hosted 20 middle school teams.

LMS junior varsity boys placed 12th and 17th in varsity while the girls placed 4th in junior varsity and 12th place for girls varsity. "I couldn't be more proud of my runners. For most this is the first experience they have running long distances. All of them have worked hard." said LMS Cross Country coach Estelle Long. The team will have a meet Thursday, September 8th in Fairview. The squad will be back in action Saturday at Rutherford County for the Milton Invitational in Milton, just north of Murfreesboro. Next Thursday they will run in Bell Buckle before a short break before the Middle School Cross Country qualifier in Sharp Springs on the 23rd.

The LMS cross country team includes Abby Collins, Jessa Lancaster, Olivia Ferris, Brady Phillips, Courtney Burrow, Gabby Cardin, Mallorie Wooten, Haven Hawkins, Jania Dansby, Jasmine B r o w n , M i c h a e l a Sweat, Olivia Wooten, Abby McGehee, Erika Campbell, Kamiya Morris, Yesimar Sanchez, Reese Michael, Savannah Alaxander, Brennen Peete, Aiden Hurt, Angel Herrerra, Shane Victory, Deshaun Johnson, Dorian Jackson, Ethan Spivy, Gaylon Gold, Laird Johnsy, Peyton Graves and Will McAdams.
