Tigers place 5th in region meet

The Marshall County Tigers faltered at the Region 6A/AA Golf Tournament at Montgomery Bell Golf Course in Burns on Monday as MCHS finished in fifth place with a combined team score of 350.

Christ Presbyterian Academy won their third consecutive region title and qualified for the state tournament, shooting a 294, a whopping 23 strokes clear of Nolensville (317).

CPA's Luke Zieman and A. Jacks Green both shot two-under par 69, while Gavin Clements and Jerimiah Cox added a pair of 78's for the winning team.

Columbia Academy finished third (320), Stewart County fourth (337), Marshall County fifth and Waverly Central finished sixth (351).

Kasey Beard led Marshall County with an 80, followed by Tyler Wunderlin (82), Colton Barber (93, Davis George (95) and Sean Kennedy (116).

Individual state tournament qualifiers are: Dalton Thomasson (East Hicman-74) and John Korjenek (Page-75).
