James Edward 'Eddie' Johnson
Eddie Johnson, 89, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Illinois.
Eddie was born on March 27, 1927 in Lewisburg, Tennessee; a son to the late John and Zelma (Miller) Johnson. He was a dedicated civil servant at the Granite City Army Depot and Scott Air Force Base for over 36 years, retiring in 1982. He proudly served his country as a military policeman in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Granite City.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (Cook) Johnson, a daughter, Patricia and (Bill) Tierney of Marshfield, Missouri; a son, John and (Cindy) Johnson of Florissant, Missouri; grandchildren, John Tierney, Meghan Fanning, Darcy Essmyer, Christopher Johnson, Molly Johnson, Hannah Johnson; great-grandchildren, Lauren Tierney, Will Tierney, Claire Tierney, James Fanning, Tierney Fanning; and a sister, Peggy Hunter of Lewisburg.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Johnson, and his sister, Martha Ervin.
