Betty Ann George Ogilvie
Mrs. Betty Ann George Ogilvie, age 84, of Lewisburg, died Monday morning at her residence.
Mrs. Ogilvie was a native of Marshall County, the daughter of the late Bert and Annie Maple Lucille Hayes George. A 1950 graduate of Marshall County High School, she received an A.S. degree from Columbia State at the age of 79. She operated Oglivie's Kindergarten from 1959 until 1977, and founded and managed the day care at First United Methodist Church until 1988. She was a developer and past manager of Wee Care, where she was involved until 2013. She was named Marshall County Outstanding Citizen in 1990, served on many community and bank boards, and was presented the honor of the Wee Care building renamed for her in 1995. She was an Educational Assistant for the Marshall County Schools until four weeks prior to her death, and was an active member of Lewisburg First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harris Ogilvie Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Pat Ogilvie (Joe) Sturm, Clarks Hill, Indiana and Lynn Ogilvie Leonard, Franklin; two sons, William Harris (Joy) Ogilvie III of Franklin, and George (Donna) Ogilvie of Mt. Juliet; and one brother, Macklin George of Lewisburg. Fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lewisburg First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Allen Cemetery in the Caney Springs Community.
Visitation with the family will begin on Wednesday evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m at London Funeral Home and will continue on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or "Miriam's Promise".
