James Melvin Burch
James Melvin Burch, Jr. of Cornersville, died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Burch was a native of Giles County, Tennessee and son of the late James Melvin, Sr. and Virginia Robinson Burch. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier, retired also, from Inter City Products and he was a farmer. He was a member of the Delina Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma June Burch. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Wanda Smith Burch of Cornersville, two daughters, Dr. Christy (Lee) Pettes of Sewanee, and Karen (Gary) Gray of Nunnelly and son, James (Amanda) Burch of Christiana, two sisters, Janice Crotts of Archdale, North Carolina and Beverely Young of Cedar Hill, Texas, five grandchildren, Wayne Pettes, Amelia Joy Pettes, Kayla Gatlin, Bauer Burch, and Skilar Burch and beloved mother-in-law, Bobbie Woodward of Lewisburg.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home with burial to follow in Short Cemetery at Spring Place.
The family were at Cornersville Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m. for visitation.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Crotts, Ricky Smith, Bauer Burch, Wayne Pettes, Tommy Roden, Jeff Young and Rom Moody. Serving as honorary bearers will be the Cornersville High School Class of 1961.
