Marjorie Elaine Gatlin Taylor
Marjorie Elaine Gatlin Taylor, age 86 passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at the NHC - Maury Regional Nursing Home in Columbia, TN. She was born on Mar. 8, 1930, in Marshall County, TN to the late John Lee and Mattie Ernestine Layne Gatlin. After graduating high school, Marjorie spent 42 years as a local hairdresser.
She was married to the late Herbert Taylor who preceded her in death in Mar. of 2013. Mrs. Taylor had a sister, Thelma Moore and two brother-in-laws, Clifford Taylor and Farris Taylor also preceded her in death.
Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Debby (Chandler) Burton, Pulaski, TN; Cynthia Merrick, Nashville, TN; three grandsons, Tony (Donna) Burton, Cornersville, TN, Jeffery (Audra) Burton, Cornersville, TN, John (Becca) Merrick, Millersville, TN; one great-grandson, James Merrick; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Brenda Wright, Petersburg, TN; one brother, Doug (Brenda) Gatlin, Dickson, TN; two sister-in-laws, Sara Clift, Marjorie Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral service is Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with burial to follow in the New Zion Cemetery in the Brick Church Community, Pulaski, TN. Pallbearers will be Tony Burton, Jeffery Burton, Jason Wright, Eddie Taylor, Rex Gatlin, and John Merrick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
