Wednesday, March 1, 2017

The body of a 50-year-old Davidson county resident, was recovered on Percy Priest Lake near Hamilton Creek boat ramp late Sunday evening. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers were on the scene shortly after the accident.

Kongmany Rajaphomy and a friend had been out fishing Sunday. Upon returning to the ramp to load the boat Rajaphomy, who had been having mechanical issues with the boat, took it back out to run the motor. At that point in time it is unclear what happened, but a witness reported the boat took a hard turn throwing Rajaphomy from the boat. He was not wearing a floatation device and did not surface after the accident.

The Office of Emergency Management and TWRA searched the area where the victim was last seen using boats equipped with side and down scan imaging units. TWRA Boating Investigators deployed a remote controlled submersible sonar unit, and at 10 p.m. TWRA Investigators found the victim.
