Macklin George

Mr. Macklin George, age 89, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Mar. 19, 2017, at NHC Oakwood.

Mr. George was a native of Marshall County, the son of the late Bert and Annie Maple Lucille Hayes George. He retired from Teledyne and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, since he was 11, where he later served there as Elder Emeritus. He played country music with a bluegrass band, was a member of the Marshall County Square Dance Club, and had traveled to 49 of the 50 United States.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor Elizabeth Glenn George; a daughter, Sheryl Ilene George; and a sister, Betty Ann George Oglivie. He is survived by one daughter, Janet (David) White of Petersburg; three sons, Phillip (Lydia) George of Lewisburg, David George of Nashville, and Kenneth (Nancy) George of Lewisburg. Six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and eight step-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Mar. 20, 2017, at 7 p.m. from the Chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow at a later date in Bethbirei Cemetery.

Visitation with the family began Monday evening from 4 p.m. until the funeral hour.
