“Jeremy would be honored and humbled by the love shown by his fellow Tennesseans,” said his mother Jenny Tomlin (from the left). Next to his mother is Specialist Jeremy Tomlin, his sister Kayla Tomlin, and his younger sister, Kaitlyn Tomlin, in her departed brother’s embrace. Continuing thoughts and prayers go out from the Tribune staff in this time of loss.
Special to the Tribune

Chapel Hill area native Jeremy Darrell Tomlin, 22, died in an Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crash in Maryland during a training mission April 17, 2017. An article about the accident ran in the April 21 edition. The Tomlins reached out to the Tribune to share a note of thanks:

Statement from the Tomlin family:

My family and I (Jenny Tomlin) would like to thank everyone who honored Jeremy. We were amazed at everyone’s support of a fallen soldier. He was much more to us than a soldier. He was a son, brother, and a husband who will be dearly missed. Jeremy would be honored and humbled by the love shown by his fellow Tennesseans. There was no amount of support and love that went unnoticed. If we could hug and thank each and every one of you, we would. We are forever honored by your support.

Thank you,

The Tomlin Family
