Several animals available at Lewisburg Animal Shelter
Bella #203 - Bella was picked up on 7/10/16. She is an older Chow/Shepherd mix female. She is rescue only as she is a previous bite case at the shelter. She also had a huge mass/tumor on her rear end. Unfortunately, she also tested Positive for Heartworms on 8-30-16. We took donations for her to have the tumor removed and have been treating Heartworms with the slow kill method. She is supersweet and gets along with the other dogs, but not cats. She weighs 43 pounds. Her rescue fee is $5 as she has a sponsor for the remainder.
Delaware #204 - Delaware was picked up on Kenny Nelson Rd on 7/21/16. He is neutered American Bulldog mix. He was very underweight when he came in, but has since put on 10+lbs. He is sweet and loves attention and petting. He is doing well and is a real love bug, giving hugs when he comes out of his kennel to greet you. He needs to be the only dog in a home with no other dogs involved. He absolutely loves people and wants to be your one and only companion. This sweetheart needs a home of his own! He was adopted out the end of February, but the new owner failed to keep him up, placed him in a crate with another dog where he immediately fought, and then dumped him in a nearby shelter. He was returned in a state where he has scars and scabs all over him. We are treating him with antibiotics now.
Hawkeye #244 - Hawkeye is a male lab mix found as a stray on Nashville Highway in Chapel Hill. He is very friendly and outgoing and has gotten much better since his neuter. He will still go at a male dog but he loves to play and romp with the females. High energy and a barker! Came in with the female black lab Tar Heel so he may be related to her but they are not bonded so can be adopted separately. He needs room to run and a family to help him spend alot of that energy! Very smart and highly food and treat motivated, this guy has alot of potential. He weighs 57 pounds and is heartworm negative and microchipped. His adoption fee is $75 but if both he and TarHeel are adopted/rescued together then their fee is only $75 for both.
Gator #270 Gator was picked up on Jackson Ave on 9/29/16. He is very friendly with people and a handsome young man. He is not good with other dogs and an approved home is a must for him. He weighs 58 pounds and is microchipped. He did test positive for heartworms so he is on a slow kill heartworm treatment. He will need to go to a well supervised home. His adoption fee is $75.
Spellbinder #291 - Spellbinder appears to be a female American Bulldog/hound mix, brown and white in color. She was picked up on Hunter Road and weighs 56 pounds. She has really come out of her shell and is now a bouncing ball of energy. She will jump first thing and we are working with her to stop this as she almost knocks us down so would a child for sure. She appears to have been a mom at some point and may have recently weaned pups upon intake, but we have had her spayed now and she is fully vetted. Her adoption fee is $75. She is microchipped and heartworm negative. She can be dominant with other dogs, especially if they growl at her as she tries to prove her alpha status. Would be best in a no dog or no challenging dog home. She loves people and wants to be right by your side when out. Would make a wonderful loving companion for someone looking for a love you to the end of time dog!
Delilah #318 - Delilah is a female lab/hound mix found as a stray on Water Street on 12-2. She is super sweet and appears to be housebroken. She has been alpha toward some of the other dogs, and it appears more she is protective of whatever human she is around. She needs to go to a no dog home or be well supervised. She was wearing a collar. She is fully vetted, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She weighs 60 pounds. She has been fine with the cats here, however when a potential adopter took her home she went after one of their outdoor cats according to them. Since we have no confirmation of this we are stating that an adopter with cats would need to monitor her. She is fine with the ones here even when loose up front.
Meatloaf #53 Meatloaf is a male possibly Jack Russell/Beagle mix found as a stray on Pinecone Drive with a female dog. She is being returned to owner but the lady said this one has been around the area for a few days. He is leery of people and is going to take some work to gain his trust. He has become more trusting since he first came in but is still rescue only right now. He may be available to adopt once he accepts people more, but will be available to a rescue to continue working with him on 2-25 once his hold is up. He weighs 23 pounds. He has been fully vetted and is $70 to rescue only right now. He is heartworm positive, and will be started on a slow heartworm kill method here at the shelter. He is microchipped.
Patrick #77 - Patrick is a male shepherd/lab mix found as a stray on Bradford Road on 3-3. He is tan and white in color and is underweight at 46 pounds. He is very food anxious and we have him on scheduled feedings to help him. He is super friendly and loves petting and treats. He would probably not be good for a home with small children as he does jump up on you and could knock young ones over. He was fine with the shelter cats. He is alpha so he needs to be the only dog in your home or with a non alpha other dog. He is neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $75.
Gaelic #78 - Gaelic is a male American Bulldog mix found as a stray at Westhills School. He was hanging around the school either waiting on someone there or he had been wandering through the area as a stray. He is good natured and a happy go lucky boy now. He was wearing a blue thick and he weighs 47 pounds. He is fully vetted and heartworm negative and microchipped. He does try to be alpha so is not good with a dog that challenges or gets in his face. His adoption fee is $75.
Darby #80 - Darby is a male American Bulldog mix, black and white in color, found as a stray on Agent Road. He is a little timid but wags his tail with kind words. He is a very sweet boy. He is a little on the thin side weighing 60 pounds right now so should be a big boy once he puts on a little weight. He has been fully vetted and is heartworm negative and microchipped. His adoption fee is $75. Hes a great boy but very high food angst right now.
Dublin #100 - Dublin is a male Rottweiler/Shepherd mix found as a stray on Brookhollow Road in Chapel Hill. He is all male! He is not housebroken and was more than likely out looking for a girlfriend. He seems to be good natured and curious about everything. He is a big boy at 73 pounds! He is NOT good with cats at all. He is heartworm positive and has been started on a slow kill heartworm method here at the shelter.
Druid #101 - Druid is a female American Bulldog mix found as a stray on Tyree Road on Saturday. She is super sweet, just a bit shy, and is black and white in color. She is underweight at 40 pounds. Rosemary #111 Rosemary is a female American bulldog, tan and white in color, dropped off at the shelter on 4-12. She is super sweet and friendly and appears to have had pups in her life. She may be around 2 years old and weighs 36#. She is vetted now, is heartworm negative, and is microchipped for a $75 adoption fee. She would do best in a no other dog home. She is a jumper!
Burdock #115 - Burdock is a male adult shepherd mix found as a stray on Lynnville Hwy. He appears to be 2-3 years old and is brown and white in color. He is on owner stray hold until 4-19. He has a vet appt on 4-25. He weighs 57 pounds.
Burdock #115 - Burdock is a male adult shepherd mix found as a stray on Lynnville Hwy. He is around 2 1/2 years old. He weighs 57 pounds and appears to be housebroken. He has been neutered and microchipped, and tested heartworm positive. He is on a slow kill heartworm method here at the shelter and any medications will be sent with him upon adoption. He came in with a small female dog and may be good with another similar dog, just not a big challenging dog.
Basil #118 - Basil is an adult male American bulldog mix found as a stray on Highland Avenue. He is good natured but the lady who found him said he tore a hole in her garage door trying to get out. As he was found during the storms he may be storm shy so we will continue evaluating him here at the shelter. He will be available on Saturday April 22 for adoption and has a vet appointment on the 25th for his neuter and vetting. He weighs 48.5 pounds.
Cayenne #130 - Cayenne is a male black spitz possible pomeranian mix found as a stray on Franklin Avenue. He had some skin issues when he came in so was taken straight to the vet where they determined it was fleas. He is very shy and obviously a senior dog who seems to have some hearing and sight issues. He is a bit snappy until he gets to know you so we are going very slow with him and letting him adjust. He is available to rescue only.
Catnip #133 - Catnip is a female redbone coonhound found as a stray on Wilson School Road. She is sweet but very shy and has come out of her shell. She weighs 44 pounds and appears to have had pups although she is a young adult. She gets along with other dogs but at feeding time must be separated as she goes from bowl to bowl to eat. She has been fully vetted now, spayed, is heartworm negative and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $75.
Tarragon #134 - Tarragon is a male lab/bulldog mix found as a stray on Old Farmington Road on 4-28. He weighs 34 pounds and is very timid. He has snapped and bitten here at the shelter so he has been moved to rescue only status. We feel he will get better with time but for now he remains rescue only. He has been vetted so is $70 to rescue.
Boomer #144 - Boomer is a female young mountain curr/hound mix found as a stray on Bark Street. She weighs 29 pounds and is brindle and white in color. Sara Connor # 151- Sara Connor was found Holly Grove Rd on 5-12-17. She is very friendly and is a big wiggle but. She has an irritation around her neck from a collar or a prong collar that is being observed. She will be available for adoption or rescue on 5-19-17.
Neytiri # 155 - Neytiri is a female white with black terrier mix found as a stray on 2nd Ave North. She had been in the area for about 2 weeks before being coaxed in by a good samaritan today and brought to the shelter. She is a little wary of strangers but warms up quickly, so we are saying a home with no small children is a must as quick movements or sounds startle her. She is on owner stray hold until 5-20.
