Goat Fest headliners announced
Lewisburg will have two big reasons to dance in October at the 15th edition of the Goats, Music, and More Festival.
Organizers announced the scheduled headliners for both nights of the festival on Friday, bringing two big acts to town.
John Michael Montgomery will play Friday night and Lonestar will close out the festivities on Saturday night.
Montgomery has multiple platinum albums over his career since his first album in 1992, “Life’s a Dance.”
Montgomery has placed seven singles at number one on the Billboard Country charts, including “I Swear” and “Sold,” the Billboard top county songs of 1994 and 1995, respectively.
Saturday’s headlining act, Lonestar, is no stranger to the top of the country charts either.
The group has sold over 10 million albums since their debut in 1995. Their song, “Amazed,” won both Song of the Year and Single of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 1999 and the group was chosen as the 2001 Vocal Group of the Year by the Country Music Association.
Co-chair of the organizing committee, Pam Davis, was excited by this year’s acts, saying she had already been getting positive responses since the announcement.
She said that the additional $10,000 appropriated this year for acts had made a big difference in being able to secure two acts of headlining quality.
“It’s another amazing lineup for the fest,” said Greg Lowe, who handles publicity for the fest on behalf of the city. “We have two musical legends and I hope everyone comes out and enjoys the free shows.”
The festival had requested extra funds this year in order to expand the potential pool of artists they could attract.
Davis said that she was close to finalizing all of the supporting acts for both days as well and would be announcing the full lineups soon.
Goats, Music, and More will happen October 13 and 14 this year with a full slate of vendors, activities, music, and champion goats.
The festival attracts visitors from all over the United States and from abroad to Lewisburg every year.
