The Lewisburg Police Department has identified a suspect in a May 26 shooting in the 1400 block of Old Farmington Road.

A warrant for attempted first degree murder has been issued for Tremel Jennings of Columbia.

Jennings is charged for the early morning incident during which he allegedly entered the home of Eric Young, fired multiple shots and hit Young five times.

Young was airlifted to Vanderbilt Trauma Center in critical condition, being placed temporarily in an induced coma in order to prevent more internal damage.

Young, at last report, was in stable condition and recovering in the hospital.

According to police sources, Young did identify Jennings as the shooter. A motive for the shooting is still being investigated.

Jennings did not show up at his job in Columbia on the Monday following the shooting, according to police reports.

A motorist on Holly Grove Road the following Saturday found a 9mm pistol on the side of the road, which he turned in to police.

Forensic tests are still being conducted to determine if it was the weapon used in the incident.

Jennings should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the release from LPD, requesting public assistance in locating Jennings.

Police stress that he should not be approached, but instead the department should be called at 931-359-3800.
