A-Plus Collision Center broke a four-game losing streak in Monday night’s Babe Ruth opener, putting away a pesky Matthews’ squad 11-4 in five innings.

Tristan Griggs had a big game for A-Plus, picking up the win on the mound to move to 3-0 on the season and at the plate, Griggs went 1-for-2 with two RBI, a walk and two runs scored.

Matthew Fuller (RBI, RS) had two hits for Matthews and Luke Terry (2B, RS), Walker Whaley (2RS, BB), and Braydon Bowyer (BB) all had one base knock.

Matthews started off hot, scoring two first inning runs on a Terry RBI double to right field and a fielder’s choice RBI by Fuller.

A-Plus got one run back in the bottom of the inning when Griggs led off with a walk and eventually came home on the first of eight errors in the game by Matthews.

Blake Mooreland had two hits in three at bats with an RBI in A-Plus’ 11-4 win over Matthews.

Griggs set down Matthews 1-2-3 in the top of the second before A-Plus scored five runs in the bottom of the inning on just two hits as Matthews had six errors in the frame to fall behind 6-2.

Terry walked to lead off the top of the third and Fuller singled to left field, but Griggs came up with a big ground ball to third base where Carson Cheek turned a 5-3 double play, tagging Terry and throwing to first.

Thomas came on to pitch a scoreless fourth inning for A-Plus and his teammates put the game away in the home half of the frame, scoring five runs on two hits and a bunch more Matthews’ errors as the lead ballooned to 11-2.

Matthew Fuller went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored Monday night.

After Thomas retired the first two batters in the top of the fifth inning, Fuller stroked a single to right field and Walker Whaley was hit by a pitch.

Tristan Griggs scores on a wild pitch in the bottom of the second inning.

An attempted pickoff play at second base turned in to two runs for Matthews before the game ended on a ground out to A-Plus shortstop Blake Mooreland.
