The Fourth of July falling on a Tuesday makes for an awkward work schedule, but that doesn’t stop a full schedule of holiday festivities in Marshall County.

The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce sponsors the traditional festivities beginning Tuesday, July 4, at 9 a.m. with the Lewisburg Fourth of July parade.

Participants will gather at the Acres Shopping Center and the parade will end at Preston Hopkins Field.

The theme of this year’s parade is “It’s a Grand Old Flag.”

At 11 a.m., the Chamber hosts the Marshall County Baby Pageant, open to boys and girls in four age groups under five years of age, at the Lewisburg Recreation Center.

Pageants continue later in the day at the Rec Center, poolside if the weather allows.

Little Miss Marshall County begins at 6 p.m., followed by Miss Marshall County at 7 p.m.

The Marshall County Outstanding Citizen for 2017 award will be presented during the Miss Marshall County Pageant. The recipient will take their traditional lap around the pool.

Later in the evening at the Rec Center, the Lewisburg fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

For those wanting to celebrate the day with physical activity, there are events scheduled for them as well.

Early Tuesday at 7 a.m., the Tiger Dash 5K, benefiting the Marshall County High School cross country team, will start at the Lewisburg Rec Center.

Registration for the race is $30 for adults and $25 for youth.

The Rec Center hosts the annual Kiwanis Golf Tournament on Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. as well.

The Chamber membership breakfast scheduled for the morning of July 3 has been postponed to a future date.

In Chapel Hill, the action takes place Monday, July 3. At 6 p.m. the Rocket Band of Blue will host an ice cream social followed, after dark, by the town’s fireworks display downtown at Forrest High School.

Also on Monday, Pickers Creek Winery hosts live music and fireworks beginning at 3 p.m.
