Girls State for 2016-17

American Legion Auxiliary Volunteer Girls State was held May 28, to June 3, 2017, on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville. Girls State is a nation-wide leadership and citizenship training program offered to young women. High school juniors during the 2016-2017 academic school year were elected by the faculty at each high school. Seven ladies from Marshall County attended this year.

The ladies from Cornersville High School were: Morgan Terry, sponsored by Cornersville Lions Club; Elizabeth Taylor, sponsored by Hal Sanders-Petersburg Post 105, and Kianna Holder, sponsored by Eleanor Foster.

The ladies from Marshall County High School were: Annie Haynes, sponsored by Lewisburg Lions Club and Leah Hollingsworth, sponsored by the local American Legion Auxiliary.

The ladies from Forrest High School were: Emma Stacey and Julia Wright, sponsored by Chapel Hill Lions Club.

American Legion Auxiliary would like to thank those who sponsored these ladies who attended Girls State this year.
