Mary Jo Erwin Irby age 87 of Nashville, TN died Saturday, July 22, 2017, in Nashville, TN. She was born May 12, 1930 in New Edinburg, AR, a daughter of the late Jones Hoyle Erwin and Emeline Boyce Erwin. She was a retired elementary school teacher with 29 years of service in Davidson County, a member of the Belmont First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Upsilon Chapter and a graduate from Peabody of Vanderbilt University.

Mary Jo loved her church and reading her Bible, spending time with family and friends. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a good friend, and always thinking of others first. She touched so many lives. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jessie David Irby whom she married March 9, 1963, in Little Rock, AR at Central Presbyterian Church and he died November 11, 1978. Brothers and sisters, James Erwin, Samuel Erwin, William Erwin, Thomas Erwin, Laura Shaw and Walter Erwin also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter Pamela Irby Shinn and spouse Robert, Lewisburg, TN; three grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Katherine Elaine Crabtree and John David Crabtree all of Lewisburg, TN; two bonus grandchildren Michael Avery Shinn, Franklin, TN and Elizabeth Ann Shinn, Murfreesboro, TN.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Frazerís Chapel. Burial in Shady Grove Cemetery near New Edinburg, AR by Frazerís Funeral Home. Online guestbook

A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Belmont United Methodist Church, 2007 Acklin Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212, by Pastor Paul Purdue; visitation starting at 1 p.m. at the church.
