City announces temporary Yell Road closure

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Beginning Monday, July 24, traffic on Yell Road will be restricted due to a repaving project.

Local traffic and emergency vehicles will still have access during construction. Through traffic will be diverted by flaggers to Cornersville Highway.

Work will begin at the intersection of the road with Cornersville Highway and continue to the intersection of Yell Road with South Ellington Parkway.

The official timetable for the project calls for a completion date of October 4, although optimistic projections could have the project finished within 30 days.

The project will also reconfigure the intersection at Cornersville Highway to improve visibility for drivers turning from Yell Road.

Funds for the project are from state road funding and are separate from the $200,000 budgeted this year for road paving by the city.
