Sebastian is a coon hound mix, and this dog is an escape artist who scaled the shelter’s 4-feet-tall fence and escaped.

Delaware #204 - Delaware was picked up on Kenny Nelson Rd on 7/21/16. He is neutered American Bulldog mix. He was very underweight when he came in, but has since gained and currently weighs a healthy 46 pounds. He is going on 5 years old. He is sweet and loves attention and petting. He is doing well and is a real love bug, giving hugs when he comes out of his kennel to greet you. He needs to be the only dog in a home with no other dogs involved. He absolutely loves people and wants to be your one and only companion. This sweetheart needs a home of his own! He was adopted out the end of February, but the new owner failed to keep him up, placed him in a crate with another dog where he immediately fought, and then dumped him in a nearby shelter. He is back to his old loving self now and we absolutely adore him. He will ONLY be adopted to an approved, references, and home check visit home.

Tar Heel #243 - Tar Heel is a female lab mix found as a stray on Nashville Highway in Chapel Hill. She is friendly and has gotten better with strangers not being as afraid of them anymore. High energy and a barker! Came in with the male black lab Hawkeye so she may be related to him. She will try another dog male or female so she is very alpha and needs to either go to a monitored no dog home or to rescue where she can be further evaluated and more slowly introduced to other dogs. A high energy environment like the shelter only aggravates her already heightened energy so she is our shelter tornado for the moment! She is very smart and will try to sit for a food bowl but her energy won’t let her. She does know kennel on command and so has a high drive and is food and treat motivated. Lots of potential for this girl in the right setting! She weighs 46 pounds and is microchipped and heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is sponsored so she is $5 to an approved adopter or rescue. If both her and Hawkeye are rescued/adopted together their fee is only $10 together. We would love for them to go together as they appear to still be bonded.

Hawkeye #244 - Hawkeye is a male lab mix found as a stray on Nashville Highway in Chapel Hill. He is very friendly and outgoing and has gotten much better since his neuter. He will still go at a male dog but he loves to play and romp with the non alpha females. High energy and a barker! He needs room to run and a family to help him spend alot of that energy! Very smart and highly food and treat motivated, this guy has alot of potential. He weighs 57 pounds, is around 1 ˝ years old, and is heartworm negative and microchipped. His adoption fee is $5 since he has a sponsor and will need to go to an approved home.

Aurora was found on Long Distance Road, and looks to be a 4-month-old collie mix.

Spellbinder #291 - Spellbinder appears to be a female American Bulldog/hound mix, brown and white in color. She was picked up on Hunter Road and weighs 56 pounds. She is around 3 years old. She has really come out of her shell and is now a bouncing ball of energy. She will jump first thing and we are working with her to stop this as she almost knocks us down so would a child for sure. She appears to have been a mom at some point and may have recently weaned pups upon intake, but we have had her spayed now and she is fully vetted. Her adoption fee is $5 to an approved home as she has a sponsor for the rest. She is microchipped and heartworm negative. She can be dominant with other dogs, especially if they growl at her as she tries to prove her alpha status. Would be best in a no dog or no challenging dog home. She loves people and wants to be right by your side when out. Would make a wonderful loving companion for someone looking for a love you to the end of time dog!

Delilah #318 - Delilah is a female lab/hound mix found as a stray on Water Street on 12-2. She is super sweet and appears to be housebroken. She has been alpha toward some of the other dogs, and it appears more she is protective of whatever human she is around. She needs to go to a no dog home or be well supervised. She was wearing a collar. She is fully vetted, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She weighs 57 pounds and is around 2 ˝ years old. She has been fine with the cats here, however when a potential adopter took her home she went after one of their outdoor cats according to them. Since we have no confirmation of this we are stating that an adopter with cats would need to monitor her. She is fine with the ones here even when loose up front. Her adoption fee is $5 to an approved home as she has a sponsor for the rest.

Patrick #77 - Patrick is a male shepherd/lab mix found as a stray on Bradford Road on 3-3. He is tan and white in color and weighs 56 pounds. He is a little over a year old. He is very food anxious and we have him on scheduled feedings to help him. He is super friendly and loves petting and treats. He would probably not be good for a home with small children as he does jump up on you and could knock young ones over. He was fine with the shelter cats. He is alpha so he needs to be the only dog in your home or with a non alpha other dog. He is neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $75.

Gaelic #78 - Gaelic is a male American Bulldog mix found as a stray at Westhills School. He was hanging around the school either waiting on someone there or he had been wandering through the area as a stray. He is good natured and a happy go lucky boy now. He was wearing a blue thick and he weighs 47 pounds and is around a year old. He is fully vetted and heartworm negative and microchipped. He needs to be the ONLY dog in your home as he is very possessive of his toys and food. His adoption fee is $75.

Dublin #100 - Dublin is a male Rottweiler/Shepherd mix found as a stray on Brookhollow Road in Chapel Hill. He is all male! He is not housebroken and was more than likely out looking for a girlfriend. He seems to be good natured and curious about everything. He is a big boy at 68 pounds and is around 2 years old. He is NOT good with cats at all. He is heartworm positive and has been started on a slow kill heartworm method here at the shelter. Would be best with a home with no challenging dogs, but has been fine with females as long as no food is around. We always separate the dogs when feeding.

Rosemary #111 – Rosemary is a female American bulldog, tan and white in color, dropped off at the shelter on 4-12. She is super sweet and friendly and appears to have had pups in her life. She is right over 2 years old and weighs 44#. She is vetted now, is heartworm negative, and is microchipped for a $75 adoption fee. She has started playing very well with the other dogs in the shelter. She would be fine in a home with a young playful non challenging dog. She is a jumper!

Burdock #115 - Burdock is a male adult shepherd mix found as a stray on Lynnville Hwy. He is around 2 1/2 years old. He weighs 57 pounds and appears to be housebroken. He has been neutered and microchipped, and tested heartworm positive. He is on a slow kill heartworm method here at the shelter and any medications will be sent with him upon adoption. He came in with a small female dog and may be good with another similar dog, just not a big challenging dog.

Basil #118 - Basil is an adult male american bulldog mix found as a stray on Highland Avenue. He is good natured but the lady who found him said he tore a hole in her garage door trying to get out. As he was found during the storms he may be storm shy so we will continue evaluating him here at the shelter. He is neutered and is heartworm negative and microchipped. He weighs 43 pounds and is around 2 ˝ years old. He is all male and not good with male dogs. We will continue to evaluate him with females.

Ronan # 157 - Ronan was picked up along with Neo on 5-17-17 on Verona Caney Rd. He has major hair loss and was taken to the vet for evaluation. Skin scrape was negative and it was determined to be from fleas. He was treated and brought to the shelter. His owner never came for him or Neo so they are now up for adoption. He weighs 47 pounds and is black and white in color and is now fully vetted. He is heartworm negative and microchipped also, and his adoption fee is $75.

Neo #158 - Neo was picked up along with Ronan on 5-17-17 on Verona Caney Rd. He appears to be a male Pitbull Terrier. He is very friendly and appears to be housebroken. He weighs 64 pounds and is tan and white in color. His owner never came for him or Ronan. He is fully vetted, heartworm negative and microchipped, and his adoption fee is $75.

Lotus #182 – Lotus is a male grey and white pitbull found as a stray on Perryman Road in Chapel Hill. He is super sweet and loving to people, and tolerates girl dogs, but prefers to be with people whom he loves to play with. He has this goofy way of hopping over to you to play. He seems to want to play with other dogs but does have some old scars on his head we don’t know the origin of. He weighs 63 pounds and is now completely vetted. He is heartworm negative and microchipped and his adoption fee is $75.

Pluto #226 - Pluto is a male red pit bull found as a stray on Wallace Thompson Road on 7-21. He weighs 43 pounds and is very timid right now so we are letting him adjust to the sights and sounds of the shelter until we evaluate him more. If he improves in his anxiety he will be available for adoption on 7-25. After his vetting on 7-26 he will be available for $75. If not we will give him more time to adjust before offering him to the public but for now he is rescue only when available.

Simba #227 - Simba is a young male Redbone coonhound mix found as a stray on South Berlin Road. He is around 4-6 months old and weighs 22.8 pounds. He was wearing a blue collar so is on owner hold until 7-29. He is very timid but very sweet. He has a rescue commit already when he is available.

Mowgli #228 - Mowgli is a young male Curr possibly mixed with American Bulldog found as a stray on 4th Ave North. He was not wearing a collar so he will be available for adoption or rescue on 7-27. He is very sweet but timid, but loves to be petted. He has a vetting appointment on 8-2.

Phillip #229 - Phillip is a male pit bull terrier mix, tan and white in color, found as a stray on Craig Moore Road. He had been there almost 2 weeks according to the lady who called him in. He weighs 37 pounds and is very scared right now and will not let us handle him. He will be available to rescue only on 7-27 if he improves where he can be handled.

Sebastian #230 - Sebastian is a male coonhound mix, red merle in color, found as a stray on Yell Road. He is very sweet but hesitant on a leash. We are working with him. He was fine with the cats up front. He is an escape artist as he proved by climbing our 4 foot kennel out back. He is on owner stray hold until 7-29 and will be available for adoption or rescue then.
