Borton captures Saddle Creek club championship

Brian Borton shot a 3-under par round of 69 in Saturday’s opening round of the Saddle Creek Club Championship and came back with a 75 on Sunday to capture the title with an overall even par round of 144 on the 6,708 yard tract.

Bill Buckles came in second place, shooting an even par round of 72 on Saturday, followed by a 76 on Sunday for a 148 total.

Donnie Deffenbaugh (79-84—163), Daniel Mason (89-82—171), and Tim Anderson (89-84—173) rounded out the top five.

In the Ladies Division, Kaley Campbell ran away with the title, posting a 79 on Saturday and a nice 3-over par 75 on Sunday for a 154 two-day total.

Mary Hinzman (78-85—163), Claudette Runk (90-85—175), Renee King (86-92—178), Sandy Campbell (90-82—182), Mandy Mason (94-97—191), and Dana Shaw (105-116—221) rounded out the remainder of the division.

In Legend’s Division play, Barbara Woods won the women’s division and Bobby Beech captured the men’s title.

John Myhr (72-76—148) had a close battle in the Men’s senior championship flight, winning by a mere three shots over Jim Durso (75-76—151).

Veryl Riddle (77-78—155) finished in third place, Eddie Roberts (76-80—156) fourth, and Stanley Bond 74-86—160) fifth.

In the Senior Division’s first flight, Jeff King’s (83-81—164) was good enough to beat out John Lambert (83-85—168).

Buddy Tankersley finished in third place (83-86—169), John Haselden (84-90—174), fourth and Hillard Parsons fifth (89-93—182).
