Women’s health and wellness fair to be held this weekend

Friday, August 11, 2017

This Saturday, August 12, the New Life Church of Lewisburg will be hosting a Women’s Health and Wellness Fair at the Lewisburg Rec Center.

The fair is aimed at educating women about their health. Peggy Hayes, a nurse from Marshall County, says that she has seen an issue arising in the county regarding the lack of knowledge women have for their health.

“I am a nurse and I see the need for education and bringing resources to our ladies”, Hayes said.

This is the first year for the health fair, but Hayes has had the desire to start it for a while.

“God had given me this idea a while ago, but it is finally coming to fruition,” she said.

The Women’s Health Fair is designed to bring information to the women in the community about their health, but also hopes to help develop a sense of community among the attendees.

Hayes is excited for women to participate in the Health Fair, and there will be an informational table with handouts from different companies across the Middle Tennessee area. The companies will share what they offer for women and the community as a whole.

“There will be a live skit as well as drawings for items donated by various individuals,” Hayes said, “along with all that, here will be free giveaways as well.”

Hayes wants women to learn the importance of maintaining their health and taking care of themselves. She truly hopes the community is brought together at this event.

The Women’s Health and Wellness Fair begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m. Admission into the fair is free.
