Armstrong charged with homicide over weekend
The Lewisburg Police Department charged a man with criminal homicide after a bar room argument turned deadly.
Patrick Dean Armstrong, 26, was arrested late Friday night after a fight at Ole Steakhouse on Nashville Highway in Lewisburg.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 11:45 p.m. finding a subject, James Dockery, 56, who had suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
According to the LPD release, Dockery was pronounced dead while being transported by ambulance to the hospital.
Armstrong posted on his Facebook page at 1:15 a.m. “Well off to jail o go for my first time for fight I. And was not my fault” before posting 30 minutes later that he needed to someone to come and make his bond.
Three hours later, Armstrong was processed with a homicide charge and held without bond.
The original Facebook post attracted comments through the weekend, reaching 200 comments, with friends and family from both sides of the incident posting their disbelief and outrage..
Unconfirmed reports online say that Armstrong struck Dockery with a pool cue during an argument.
Armstrong had a first appearance in court scheduled on Tuesday, Aug. 22. The case was continued to a later date.
The expectation is that ultimately the case will be forwarded to the grand jury for a formal indictment.
