Marshall Medical Center Laboratory earns accreditation
The laboratory at Marshall Medical Center has earned accreditation from the College of American Pathologists, according to CEO Phyllis Brown.
The accreditation follows a comprehensive on-site survey of the MMC Laboratory and its operations as part of the CAP accreditation programs. During the accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
“The accreditation process helps to ensure that our lab complies with quality standards while maintaining accuracy of test results,” said Brown. “The efforts of our laboratory director and medical director as well as staff members from laboratory and respiratory therapy are to be commended for ensuring the laboratory meets the stringent standards provided by this accreditation program.”
The accreditation is valid for a two year period. MMC is one of more than 7,700 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
